The group gathered in the main hall at 2 a.m. before splitting off to conduct investigations.
First stop was the Snug room. We began asking if there was a presence with us and to let it/them be known to us. The room temperature at this stage was 17.5-18 degrees. One group member experienced a draft across the top of her legs. Yvette was also experiencing a similar feeling across the top of her legs downwards. At this stage, the temperature reading had not altered. In the doorway to this room the reading was 20.5 degrees. One group member experienced her camcorder turning itself off, whilst she was trying to record her leg area where the draft was being felt. The temperature at this stage, in the room, is 23 degrees, but feels a lot colder.
A short time later, the room feels colder, temperature readings taken indicate this to be the case, as it had dropped to 17.5 degrees and continues to fluctuate between 16.5-17 degrees. One group member experiences coldness on top of her legs again and describes it as “going over her legs not even in a straight line, as if it has just come in”. Temperature readings now fluctuate between 18-20 degrees. I ask that if anything is in the room with us, to make it go really cold. The temperature registers 15 and then 14.5 degrees. I then ask for it to go colder. This results in the temperature dropping further to 13.5 degrees.
Another group member asked for a sound to be made – nothing happens. The temperature is now 18.5-19 degrees, the doorway temperature registers 20 degrees. (This doorway does not have an actual door, it is just an opening into the previous room/bar area. When walking into the snug through this opening there is a door immediately to the left leading into another area).
The camcorder turns itself off again... Yvette asks what the battery level/power reading is like and is told that the battery should show how much longer the group member has, but that information is not showing. When it does come back on, it registers an additional 3 minutes in time. (I do not know if this is a standard occurrence for camcorders, so am not noting it as paranormal).
Noticing coldness around our knees again, Yvette notes the temperature is registering 19.5-20 degrees. Another group member is standing in the open doorway and is noticing a draft. The temperature reading in the doorway is 22 degrees, which is higher than the temperature originally recorded. This group member reports that although the room we had to walk through to get into the snug is warm, the back of her neck feels quite cold. After a short time, Yvette notices the area around her legs has dipped in temperature again and would describe the feeling this time as a “swirling about type of movement”. None of us are mobile. This only happened briefly and the air in the room then appeared warmer again.
A few orbs were picked up on camcorders. We were discussing a little girl called Emily, apparently known to this venue. Not long after this discussion, possible coincidence, we experienced another strong and quick blast of cold air. Nothing happened for some time after this but Yvette did experience a cold feeling around the kneecap area again. Returning later in the morning for a final vigil in this room, the temperature was 17.5-20 degrees, the fireplace being 18 degrees. Yvette asked if anything was present in the room for it/them to make the temperature drop again – it actually increased by 1 degree near the fireplace. The room felt a lot warmer than it had when the first vigil was conducted in this room. Nothing else happened in the Snug, bar a possible EVP on Dictaphone, which did not belong to any of us conducting the vigil at that time.
We then moved into The Solar rooms, which consisted of 3 separate areas. The room at the far end was the coldest room by far, registering between 9-12.5 degrees, with the windows registering at 7.5-8 degrees. It is unknown at the time of writing this report whether this is a naturally cold room or whether any heating sources catering for this room were turned off. It was quite strange considering the other rooms were really warm in comparison. Nothing happened in this room. On returning to this room later in the morning, the temperature registered 9-10 degrees, but for some reason did not appear as cold as before?? Nothing happened on this second vigil.
Dining room area (underneath Emily's room). This consisted of various tables with a single glass laid down on their sides on each of the tables. We decided to stand 3 of the glasses up on the tables. One in the correct drinking position, 2 upside down. We then left these and went to the furthest point of the room, down the few steps into the rest of the dining area. It is very cold here with the temperature registering 8.5-9.5 degrees. Apparently a dark shadow has been seen in this room. The weather remains very cold, wet and breezy outside. At this point of the vigil not much was being picked up. We were than called back to the Main Hall for the Medium to conduct a group reading.
Once the reading had ended, we returned to this area - bearing in mind no-one had been in here since we left and in the time it took to return...
The glasses remain in the same position as we left them in and the temperature registers 10-11.5 degrees. Orbs are being captured on camcorders. We move down to the far end of the dining room. Tracey and Andy have now joined us. Tracey asked out for noises, taps etc to be made if anything was present. Nothing was noted at this point in time by Yvette.
On returning to the area where the glasses have been left upright, these remain in the same position as left. However, on the adjacent table, one glass is now upright. This glass had not been moved since returning to this room from the reading! We now leave this area and proceed to Emily's room.
This had apparently been the little girl’s bedroom, but now acts as a storage room. This room was apparently closed for 4 years. It is unsure how Emily died – fire or drowning. It is extremely cold in here. Yvette did not like the initial feel of the room, but cannot explain why. (Just one of those feelings you get!!) The temperature in the corner of the room, leading to another storage room, registers 6-6.5 degrees. It should be noted that there is a ventilation fan fitted into the window near the ceiling, which could explain why the room is so cold. Yvette asked if anything was present to make itself known and for the boxes in the room to be stacked up. Nothing happened at this point in the vigil.
When returning to this room, the temperature registers 7 degrees. There is a noise on my Dictaphone which has been recorded from this room. I cannot explain what this is at this moment.
Yvette and another group member went into the other storage room off Emily's room. This room registers 4.5-5 degrees - it is extremely cold. Again, there is a ventilation fan in the window, which would explain the level of coldness in this room. Nothing happened in here.
We then went back into Emily's room where a group had now gathered, including the Medium for the night jacquie who is in the process of asking questions. Some members experience cold, but not all of us. A quick white flash was witnessed by most in the room, in the area above the main entrance doorframe. We discount pictures being taken in the room at this time. However, it should be pointed out at this stage, that a major Police investigation was being conducted outside of the vigil anad this, perhaps, could have been the explanation to this flash - they had cameras on tripods etc set up... This will be left to the individual readers of this report as to how they wish to interpret the same... The room temperature registers between 10-13 degrees.
Final return to the Dining Room to see if anything is happening. We notice that one of the glasses is now missing from the table where we had originally placed the same upright. However, further enquiries were made and it was established that this had been taken upstairs to Emily's room, so nothing paranormal in that... A few more orbs were captured on camcorder by group members. One asked if Yvette had been taking temperature readings, as she had picked up what she thought was a red orb. No temperature readings were being taken at this point in time. Apart from this, nothing happened.
Chapel Area - apart from the odd orb captured on camera, nothing happened.
We left The Manor House around 6.15 a.m. for some well deserved sleep...
